We are excited to help you plan your special day! University Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)/United Church of Christ is an Open & Affirming Congregation and we are eager to work with all couples (gay and straight) who wish to celebrate their love for one another. We have two beautiful settings for your wedding or commitment ceremony. Our Chapel will accommodate about 40 people, plus a small wedding party. Our sanctuary will accommodate 300 or more.

If you are interested in getting married at UCC, please contact the church office. Fee schedules are available upon request.

Transgender Renaming Ceremony

We recognize that changing a name can be one of the most important and meaningful steps for a transgender or gender nonconforming person in expressing and validating their true self.  We offer a ceremony to celebrate that renaming.

Forever Family Recognitions

There are many families that are created through the miracle of adoption. When a Forever Family is created, we observe a special moment of dedication, planned with the newly created family. A certificate suitable for framing is provided at the conclusion of this time of blessing held in one of our worship services.

Memorial Services

In times of grief and loss, the pastoral staff of University Christian Church stands ready to provide support and guidance. Our minister will help plan a meaningful service of remembrance to be held at the church, a funeral home, or other location of the family’s choosing.

Baptism is one of the most sacred experiences of a Christian’s life. We believe that baptism serves as an important step in a person’s faith journey. It is a way of saying “yes” to God after God has already said “yes” to us. Our congregation is affiliated with both the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ, which means that we offer two different paths of baptism.  The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) practices believer’s baptism by immersion, which means that a person must be of an adequate age to choose to follow the teachings of Jesus in his or her life. The United Church of Christ practices infant baptism, as a sign of welcome into God’s community.  We respect both forms of baptism and offer a baptism/confirmation class during Lent.

Child Dedications

It’s a very special time when a baby is born! If you choose not to baptize your child as an infant, you might consider a child dedication.  This dedication reminds both the parents and the congregation that we are involved in a holy work: raising children that are loving, compassionate, and committed to peace-building. A celebration certificate is provided to the family.
