We have several events each month that are hosted by collaboratives - special interest groups within the congregation.  Events are open to everyone.  We hope that you can join us!

Holy Week Services
Maundy Thursday - April 18, 7:00 p.m.
Maundy Thursday (or Holy Thursday) is the celebration of Jesus' institution of Communion. This year, our Maundy Thursday service will include a modern interpretation and living picture of "The Last Supper." Children will be included in the service. We hope that you can join us!
Good Friday - April 19, 12:00 p.m. with lunch preceding
Our Good Friday Service will be a tenebrae service (service of shadows) where we will be reading the story of the crucifixion and listening to reflective music. There will be a complimentary Soup Lunch in Friendship Hall at 11:15 a.m. prior to worship.
Easter Sunday - April 21, 10:00 a.m.
Join us for a joyous celebration complete with a brass band, liturgical dance, our house band, incredible choir, and a powerful message!
The celebration after worship will include an Easter egg hunt and a bounce house for the kids. Hope to see you there!
Community Breakfast
On April 21, join the Community Breakfast team in serving breakfast to those in need.  Contact the church office for more details.
Japanese Friendship Garden Tour
On April 23 at 1:00 p.m., the Spirituality Collaborative is sponsoring an outing to the Japanese Friendship Garden. 
Tickets are $9.00.
Creek to Bay Cleanup
April 27, from 9 am - 12 pm Our group will help by cleaning up trash from the coastal site. We will also fill out data cards that detail the type of trash we collect. After some hard work, let's go each lunch together!

Rummage Sale
On May 3-4, we will host our annual rummage sale.  Find everything you need including: jewelry, electronics, home goods, holiday items, children's toys, clothing, furniture, books, and much more.  All proceeds go to benefit local and national nonprofits.  This event is sponsored by Disciples Women.
Cinco de Mayo Celebration
On May 5 our Peace & Justice Collaborative will sponsor a Cinco de Mayo lunch immediately following worship! Food will be provide, but we will also be fundraising for a home build in Mexico over the summer.
Beer & Hymns
Every few months we gather at Uptown Tavern (1236 University Ave. - a block from the church) for a fun night of Beer & Hymns!  It's exactly what it sounds like: we come together to sing hymns and drink beer (or another beverage of your choice).  We try to have a Beer & Hymns once every quarter of the year. Come and lift your spirits!
Mission Trails Park Cleanup
Saturday, May 18 The Environmental Collaborative will be participating in this Saturday cleanup.
Larry Morris' Ordination
Sunday, May 19, at 3:00 p.m. One of the most sacred acts of the church is ordination. We are thrilled to be hosting the ordination of Larry Morris. Please join us in the joyous celebration!
Guided Meditation
The Spirituality Collaborative will be hosting a guided meditation in the Chapel on Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m.
Outing to the Midway
May 25, 2019 - 10:00 a.m. $23.00 The Community Building Collaborative is arranging an outing at the USS Midway Museum, which is a maritime museum located in downtown, at Navy Pier. The museum consists of the aircraft carrier Midway. The ship houses an extensive collection of aircraft, many of which were built in Southern California.

The Environmental Collaborative is sponsoring an outing to Stone Brewery for "Suds and Science!"
The topic is "Microbial Diversity and the Web of Life."
The cost is $5 and the event is on June 10 from 6:30-8:00.
Crazy Tie Day Contest

Homebuilding in Mexico
University Christian Church has built 30 homes in Mexico.  On June 21-23, we'll build number 31.  Contact the church office if you'd like to help.
Friends (Quaker) Worship Experience
On June 23 the Spirituality Collaborative will be hosting "Friends Worship Experience" at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel.
​Picnic in the Park
Volleyball? Croquet? Water Balloon Toss? Fun in the Sun? Saturday, July 6th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Community Building Collaborative and will be sharing more information in the near future.
Pride BBQ
Kick off Pride weekend with a Pride BBQ on July 12 at 7:00 p.m.
